Tata Technologies announced the launch of the 4th edition of its flagship engineering innovation hackathon, InnoVent-27. Building on its continued success, this year the initiative has been further strengthened and taken a notch higher in collaboration with Emerson’s Test & Measurement business and Amazon Web Services (AWS). InnoVent-27 offers engineering students across India an inspiring platform to tackle real-world industrial challenges by deploying advanced computing directly where the data is generated.
The theme for this edition, AI at the Edge, challenges participants to unleash the potential of localized, real-time intelligence. Guided by the tagline, “AI solution for Automotive, Industrial Heavy Machinery, and Aerospace,” The hackathon invites participants to conceptualize and build AI-at-the-edge solutions that enhance performance, safety, sustainability, and autonomy across automotive, industrial heavy machinery, and aerospace sectors. Submissions may span applications such as ADAS and autonomous systems, predictive maintenance, smart manufacturing and digital twins, intelligent inspection, secure connected ecosystems, and energy-efficient, next-generation mobility solutions.
The competition is open to 3rd and 4th year engineering students. Reinforcing Tata Technologies’ deep-rooted commitment to diversity and inclusion, the hackathon actively encourages entries from teams with women innovators and differently abled members.
The rigorous evaluation process will be conducted in three distinct stages: initial concept screening, virtual Proof of Concept (PoC) presentations, and final prototype live demonstrations. Projects will be assessed based on their novelty, feasibility, diversity, and potential real-world impact, with a particular spotlight on functional prototypes.
To support the scaling of these student innovations, Tata Technologies’ Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will provide intensive technical mentorship. The top-performing teams stand to win cumulative cash prizes worth INR 4.5 Lakhs and job opportunities at Tata Technologies. Winners will also receive AWS Kits, along with sponsor recognitions, including the Breakthrough Idea Award and Best Prototype Award. All teams reaching the POC stage will receive participation certificates.
Komal Chhabra, SVP – Strategy, Marketing & Corporate Development, Tata Technologies, commented on the launch of InnoVent-27: “At Tata Technologies, we believe that real-world engineering challenges are best solved by the minds closest to the future. InnoVent-27 is our commitment to nurturing that talent by bringing together the brightest engineering students with industry-leading partners. AI at the Edge is not just a theme, but the direction in which automotive, aerospace, and industrial engineering is headed. Through this platform, we are giving India’s next generation of engineers the tools, mentorship, and stage they need to turn bold ideas into solutions that matter.”
Shitendra Bhattacharya, Country Head & Director, Emerson Test and Measurement, added: “We are excited to partner with Tata Technologies for InnoVent-27. Bringing AI to the edge requires robust validation, and Emerson’s software-defined test and measurement solutions, built on NI technologies, are designed to help young innovators seamlessly transition their code from virtual simulations into rugged, real-world hardware environments. Fostering talent in automotive, aerospace, industrial, biomedical and consumer devices is highly aligned with our mission to push the boundaries of technology.”
Kunal Matt, Enterprise Account Manager- Conglomerates, Amazon Web Services (AWS), said: “By continuing our collaboration with Tata Technologies for InnoVent, we aim to bridge the gap between heavy edge devices and scalable cloud support. Combining Cloud Computing Services with Edge AI are redefining modern industrial sectors. We are proud to provide the cloud support and technical guidance needed to help engineering students build, deploy, and scale intelligent applications that will transform industries.”
