“Under the visionary leadership of Jameela Kapasi, Founder of Digitotal, small businesses have been steered toward substantial growth—gaining widespread brand visibility, expanding their market reach, and unlocking the ability to seamlessly serve and ship products across India.”
DigitalCIO sat down with Jameela Kapasi, Founder of Digitotal, to explore the entrepreneurial journey behind building and operating a digital marketing agency in the UAE’s dynamic business landscape. From navigating the challenges of entrepreneurship to helping brands find their unique voice in an increasingly crowded digital world, Jamila shares her perspective on what it takes to create meaningful and measurable growth.
DigitalCIO : What inspired you to start your business, and what opportunity or problem did you aim to address?
Jameela Kapasi : When I started Digitotal witnessing a growing gap between businesses wanting to build a strong digital presence and actually knowing how to do it effectively. Many businesses had great products and services but struggled with websites, social media, SEO and digital marketing.
My goal was not just to help businesses become visible online, but to use digital technology strategically to achieve real business growth.
DigitalCIO : Mention some of the key milestones along the way?
Jameela Kapasi : The journey has evolved tremendously. What started as an idea and a small business has grown into a digital marketing agency serving clients across India and the UAE. Over the years, I have worked with businesses across different industries, built a team, expanded our services and adapted continuously to the changing digital landscape.
One of the biggest milestones has been reaching a stage where Digitotal is not just about providing individual digital services, but about becoming a strategic digital partner for businesses.
DigitalCIO : What were some of the biggest challenges you faced while building the business, and how did you overcome them?
Jameela Kapasi : One of the biggest challenges was building credibility and earning clients’ trust, particularly as a growing business. Another challenge has been keeping up with how quickly the digital industry changes. Platforms, algorithms, technology and customer behaviour are constantly evolving. I overcame these challenges by continuously learning, experimenting, listening to clients and staying adaptable. Entrepreneurship has taught me that you don’t always need to have all the answers—you need to be willing to learn and keep moving forward.
DigitalCIO : What differentiates your business, products or services from competitors in the market?
Jameela Kapasi : I don’t really look at other agencies as competitors. I believe there is enough opportunity in the digital space for businesses and agencies to collaborate, complement each other’s strengths and create better results for clients.
At Digitotal, our focus is on understanding a client’s unique requirements and finding the right digital solutions for them. We also believe in building relationships within the industry.
Rather than operating in isolation, the company believes that a strong business ecosystem can create more opportunities, innovation, and long-term growth for everyone involved.
DigitalCIO : What has been your most significant achievement or breakthrough so far?
Jameela Kapasi : One of my most significant achievements has been being recognised with the Most Iconic Women-Led Startup Award. It was a very meaningful milestone for me because it recognised not just the business I have built, but also the journey, persistence and vision behind it.
As a woman entrepreneur, the award was a reminder that taking the leap, building something from the ground up and continuing to evolve can create an impact. It also motivates me to keep pushing myself and Digitotal towards bigger goals.
DigitalCIO : How are changing customer expectations influencing your business strategy?
Jameela Kapasi : Customers today expect businesses to be accessible, responsive and relevant online. They don’t just look at a company’s website anymore—they look at its social media, reviews, content, reputation and overall digital experience before making a decision. This means businesses have to be much more consistent and authentic.
We are increasingly focusing on strategies that combine content, performance marketing, SEO, AI and data to create a more complete digital presence.
DigitalCIO : What are your key growth priorities and expansion plans for the coming years?
Jameela Kapasi : Our focus is on strengthening Digitotal as a full-service digital growth partner for businesses in India and the UAE.
We want to continue expanding our capabilities in performance marketing, SEO, AI-driven marketing and web solutions while building a stronger team and deeper expertise.
I also see significant potential in helping more established and corporate businesses use digital strategically rather than simply treating it as a marketing function. The goal is sustainable growth while maintaining the personal approach that has been central to Digitotal.
DigitalCIO : What message or advice would you like to share with aspiring entrepreneurs on World Entrepreneur Day?
Jameela Kapasi : Don’t wait for everything to be perfect before you start. Your first version of a business will probably look very different from where you eventually end up, and that’s okay. Be willing to start small, learn from failures, adapt quickly and keep showing up.
Entrepreneurship requires patience because success rarely happens overnight. Most importantly, build something you genuinely believe in. If you stay consistent, keep learning and remain open to change, the journey itself becomes your biggest advantage.
