Delivery Hero (the “Company” or the “Group”), unveiled its new agentic AI assistant that helps neighborhood shops and restaurants to seamlessly accelerate their business. The AI assistant can autonomously develop and implement personalized growth strategies through promotions and ads, respond to customer reviews, and improve menu and product content, thus boosting sales.

“Small business owners have a lot to juggle and our new AI assistant helps them grow faster without adding to their workload,” said Johannes Bruder, Chief Product Officer at Delivery Hero. “What makes it different is that it doesn’t just advise. It acts on behalf of business owners, the moment they approve, right inside a messaging app they already use. It’s an exciting part of our agentic AI strategy that we now roll out across our global platform as we build the app that customers reach for every day.”

Easy to use, instant benefits

Shop and restaurant owners interact with the assistant through chats on WhatsApp. They can use text, voice notes and images to ask the assistant for help directly, or, if the owner allows, the assistant can also make suggestions independently. If the owner approves a recommendation, the assistant can directly implement the changes, bringing instant benefits and allowing the owner to focus on running their business.

The AI assistant can help with:

  • Improving menus and products: It can flag dishes and products that aren’t selling well, and recommend and implement ways to boost their sales, such as adding or improving images and descriptions.
  • Drive growth: It can recommend and set up advertising campaigns and promotions, based on customer demand in the neighborhood and competitor trends.
  • React to customer feedback: The tool can analyze and surface insights from customer reviews to draft suggested responses and refine product descriptions.
  • Business advice: The assistant shares regular updates to highlight areas of improvement and provide easy-to-follow recommendations for better business performance.

Built on industry-leading large language models with advanced security controls, the AI assistant won’t implement any changes without explicit approval from the partner. It learns from rejected suggestions, which means it will refine its recommendations next time, thus adjusting to what the partner actually wants for their business.

“Running a small restaurant means doing everything yourself, and there’s never enough time. Having this AI tool is like having an expert on my team who spots things I’d miss — a dish that isn’t selling, a good moment to run a promotion, a review I should reply to,” said Othman, owner of Bahraini Kabab in Dubai. “I like how the assistant makes suggestions, but I can always decide and approve before anything changes, so I stay in control. It’s helped me bring in more orders without adding to my workload.”

A real impact on orders

Only months after making its first suggestions, the AI assistant now already supports over 40,000 restaurants across Delivery Hero’s global brands and markets – an early but fast-growing slice of the approximately 1.5 million partners on the Delivery Hero platform. The roll-out will continue apace, bringing the benefits of agentic AI to hundreds of thousands of local shops and restaurants around the world.

Partners using the tool have seen a real impact on their business. At Glovo, Delivery Hero’s brand in Southern Europe, Central Asia and Africa, restaurants that used the assistant to help them saw orders jump by 15%.

The AI assistant is the latest step in Delivery Hero’s agentic AI strategy. Earlier this year, Delivery Hero announced the launch of Herogen, its in-house autonomous software delivery agent. Herogen currently delivers an annual coding output equivalent to 130 senior engineers and is growing fast, transforming the speed at which new features can be rolled out.

Delivery Hero uses Artificial Intelligence to improve the delivery of food, groceries, and other household essentials to capture more of its customers’ needs as it builds the Everyday App.
