Cyberattack hits Colt: Ransomware group WarLock Claims Responsibility

British telecom company Colt Technology Services has been hit by a cyberattack that has disrupted various services since August 12, including hosting, the Colt Online portal, and Voice API platforms. Colt initially called it a “technical issue,” but the nature of the incident later became clear.

The WarLock ransomware group has claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming to have stolen one million documents, Bleepingcomputer reports . 

This data, which allegedly includes financial, employee, and customer information, is being offered for sale for $200,000. Security researchers suggest the hackers may have gained access through a vulnerability in Microsoft SharePoint.

Colt has announced that it is investigating the claims and is working with external cybersecurity experts to restore the affected internal systems. The company emphasizes that customers’ core network infrastructure has not been affected. A recovery time is not yet known, and customers are advised to contact us by email or phone, expecting longer wait times.
