In a world where data sovereignty is increasingly a matter of national security, Rubrik now offers organizations the ability to manage their digital assets within strictly defined legal boundaries. The system is designed to comply with the strictest local laws and regulations.
No access for foreign entities
“Our customers have been clear about what they need,” said Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik. “They want certainty that no foreign entity, whether government or vendor, can access or control their data. For those managing sensitive data, sovereignty isn’t optional – it’s fundamental.” The announcement, says Anneka, “reinforces our commitment to helping leaders secure their posture against foreign and domestic adversaries.”
The core of the new service is that all components—from the actual data and metadata to the management system—remain within the customer’s chosen country borders. This prevents data from unintentionally falling under the jurisdiction of another country.
Invulnerable to ransomware
In addition to geographic control, Rubrik Security Cloud Sovereign offers several technical security layers:
- Immutability: Even if attackers manage to obtain high access rights, they cannot encrypt, delete, or modify the data. This is a crucial defense against ransomware.
- Advanced threat detection: The software includes built-in AI tools for threat hunting and anomaly identification. These analyses are performed entirely within the customer’s own secure environment.
- Flexible deployment: The solution can be run on local sovereign cloud providers or on your own infrastructure ( on-premises ).
Availability
The announcement comes as pressure mounts on international tech companies to be more transparent about their data flows. Fears of espionage and the impact of trade conflicts are making data sovereignty a top priority in boardrooms.
Rubrik Security Cloud Sovereign is available immediately in limited quantities to select customers through an early access program. A broader rollout is expected soon.
