Cognizant has opened a new regional technology and service delivery center in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, supporting increased demand from clients in the Mississauga/Greater Toronto region for Cognizant’s specialized digital technology and business process services.

The new 50,000 square-foot facility includes training rooms, a digital lab and a co-innovation space for clients. Opening ceremonies held on July 19 featured speakers including Bonnie Crombie, Mayor of the City of Mississauga; Toby Lennox, President and CEO of Toronto Global; and Cognizant Executive Vice President and Head of North American Regional Delivery Centers, Allen Shaheen. Cognizant clients, political dignitaries, members of the local academic community, and other special guests participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the facility.

The opening ceremonies also highlighted Cognizant’s new technology skills training initiative with Seneca, a local college. Cognizant and Seneca are launching a custom training program designed to help address the IT skills gap, and provide expanded job opportunities for residents of the Greater Toronto area. Scheduled to begin this fall, the program will focus on training to enhance skills for current IT professionals, and build skills for students and other individuals interested in pursuing technology careers. Courses focusing on digital, infrastructure, testing and application management services will be offered at Seneca, as well as onsite at Cognizant’s Mississauga center.

“As a large technology employer, Cognizant cares deeply about workforce development in our communities – both for today and tomorrow,” said Allen Shaheen, Executive Vice President, North America Regional Delivery Centers, Cognizant. “The forward-thinking educators and administration at Seneca are ideal partners for this new training program. We hope this reskilling initiative will provide new career opportunities for area residents.”
