Akasa Air has appointed Abhishek Gupta as its Chief Information Officer (CIO), bringing an experienced technology and digital-transformation leader into the airline’s senior management team.
Gupta joins the low-cost carrier after serving as Corporate Head of Information Technology at Dish TV India. His appointment follows the conclusion of his tenure at the direct-to-home television provider on August 31, 2026.
In his new role, Gupta is expected to lead Akasa Air’s information-technology function and support the airline’s technology strategy as it continues to build its operations in India’s highly competitive aviation market.
His background spans enterprise IT and digital-transformation leadership, including responsibility for technology portfolios at Dish TV. Gupta’s professional profile also identifies experience across CIO and chief digital officer responsibilities, alongside an education at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
The appointment comes as airline technology plays an increasingly central role in passenger booking and servicing, operational coordination, data management, cybersecurity, and digital customer experience. For a growth-stage carrier such as Akasa Air, the CIO function will be key to developing scalable systems that can support network expansion and rising passenger volumes.
Gupta’s move from the media and broadcast sector into aviation reflects the growing demand for executives able to manage complex, customer-facing technology platforms and enterprise digital operations.
