Zoom has introduced Realtime Media Streams (RTMS), a powerful new tool that gives developers and organizations secure, real-time access to audio, video, and transcript data directly from Zoom Meetings. RTMS marks a major leap forward in enabling AI-first applications by transforming live meeting content into structured data streams, helping teams unlock real-time insights, automate workflows, and power next-generation productivity tools.

“These innovations reflect our ongoing commitment to equip developers with the tools they need to build the future of work, communication, and collaboration,” said Arun Janakiraman, group product manager of Apps at Zoom. “With RTMS, we’re making it easier than ever for customers to gain real-time access to their most critical conversations, all while keeping privacy, performance, and user trust at the core.”

With Zoom RTMS, streamed directly via secure WebSocket, developers and organizations can tap into rich, per-participant media streams to unlock AI-driven transcription, compliance monitoring, summarization, search, and workflow automation. This can help reduce processing costs and engineering complexity for app developers, without the need for meeting bots.

These innovations are ready to reshape AI-powered applications to support workflows across industries, from financial services and sales to healthcare and customer success, by turning unstructured meeting content into actionable, real-time intelligence. Some examples of key industries that can benefit from this advancement include:

  • Financial services and regulated industries: In regulated industries where compliance matters, RTMS gives firms real-time, structured access to meeting data to help verify that no critical compliance information is missed, AI-powered compliance monitoring to detect potential violations or risks, and instant audit-ready report generation.
  • Sales and customer success: RTMS transforms sales and customer success workflows by capturing conversations as structured data, enabling real-time transcription, sentiment analysis, and AI coaching. Sales reps can auto-generate follow-ups, update CRMs like Salesforce or HubSpot, and gain live insights, freeing them from note-taking and manual entry and allowing them to focus on closing a deal.
  • Healthcare and telemedicine: For healthcare providers, RTMS enhances virtual care by securely streaming patient conversations to AI tools that transcribe visits, update EHRs, and create clinical documentation in real time. This enables clinicians to focus on patient interactions by reducing administrative load, improving care quality, and supporting compliance through transparent app permissions and secure data handling.
