IBM elevates Harish Bharti to CTO, APAC for IBM Consulting

IBM Consulting has elevated Harish Bharti as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Asia Pacific, giving the veteran technology leader a broader mandate to help enterprises and financial institutions in the region scale artificial intelligence, modernise core systems and build technology platforms that produce measurable business outcomes.

Bharti’s appointment comes as organisations across Asia Pacific move from experimenting with generative AI to integrating AI capabilities into day-to-day operations, customer services and core business workflows. In the new role, he is expected to focus on enterprise architecture, cloud transformation, application modernisation and the deployment of agentic AI systems that can operate consistently in production environments.

Bharti brings more than two decades of experience in enterprise technology. At IBM, he has held senior roles across technology strategy, cloud transformation, enterprise architecture, application modernisation and innovation, including chief architect at the Global Solutioning Center of Excellence and lead architect for the Application Innovation Services Cloud programme.

He has also served as an IBM Distinguished Engineer and Master Inventor. His areas of technical expertise include cloud-native and data architecture, as well as the design of solutions for complex enterprise environments. Before IBM, Bharti worked as a software engineer at LTI, formerly Larsen & Toubro Infotech, and later as a service-oriented architecture architect at Walmart.

Bharti’s record includes a portfolio of 129 filed patents, of which 91 have been granted, according to his recent update. His inventions span cloud computing, blockchain, cognitive computing, microservices, mobility, digital integration, Internet of Things technologies and AI-led edge computing. Public records also link his work to multi-cloud optimisation, event processing and observability technologies.
