Meta and Reliance Industries have announced a major expansion of their strategic partnership through an agreement to develop an AI-enabled data center in India. The facility will be located in Jamnagar, Gujarat, underscoring Meta’s strong commitment to the country. This investment will support the infrastructure behind Meta’s products and advanced AI capabilities, helping deliver next-generation intelligent services to one of its largest and fastest-growing user bases worldwide. Under the agreement, Reliance will construct a 168 MW data center, which Meta will lease, with provisions for future expansion.
Meta is making significant investments to expand its infrastructure capacity in support of its technologies, services, and growing AI ambitions that serve billions of users worldwide. India’s rapidly evolving digital economy, large and engaged user base, and strong partnership with Reliance position the country as a strategic destination for this expansion.
As part of this effort, Meta is leasing capacity at a new Reliance data center in Jamnagar, India. The facility will be powered by renewable energy and cooled using desalinated seawater, with Meta covering the full cost of both energy and water usage. This initiative marks a key milestone in Meta’s global infrastructure growth and further strengthens its long-standing collaboration with Reliance, spanning connectivity, commerce, and AI innovation in one of the world’s most dynamic digital markets.
