NetApp announced a 4‑year Enterprise Agreement with Google Cloud to accelerate deployment of NetApp storage solutions within Google Distributed Cloud air‑gapped, Google’s sovereign cloud platform delivered in partnership with World Wide Technology (WWT). The integrated solution of NetApp data platform within this full-stack, air-gapped private cloud solution is designed for organizations that require to handle sensitive information and meet data sovereignty requirements.
Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) allows organizations to extend cloud infrastructure and services to wherever the customers need them, including on-premises data centers and edge network. Combined with NetApp AFF, StorageGRID, and Trident solutions, it delivers an Intelligent Data Infrastructure that provides a secure private cloud built on zero-trust security principles. This setup enables local data storage, customer-controlled encryption keys, and full data governance.
By using these technologies together, organizations can run cloud-native applications—including AI—while maintaining greater control over their environments. They can also bring cloud capabilities closer to where data is generated or create air-gapped environments that restrict or eliminate external connectivity for enhanced security.
Over the past year, Google Cloud has expanded its AI capabilities to support regulated use cases. Gemini’s advanced reasoning and advanced generation capabilities are now available on GDC, enabling powerful generative AI use capabilities such as automation, content creation, discovery, and summarization directly on-premises. Customers can operate in fully disconnected settings while still leveraging Google’s AI, allowing them to innovate without compromising strict security and compliance standards.
